Nice one, katleman, I just put that on my to-do list! How's the summer heat there?
When we were there on July 13th, 2006, the temperature at visitor center (BTW, do take one of the tours of Lehman Cave) was in the upper 90s. Didn't have a thermometer, but it was quite comfortable at Wheeler Peak Campground, I'd say upper 70s, quite shocking after the heat down below, but we didn't get up there until about 6-7pm.

The 2006 visit was a complete lark, were driving back home from Zion, looked at the map and saw Great Basin, hadn't heard of it before then (it's only been a park since 1986) and decided to drop by, yearning for another high altitude campsite.

Try site 10 in the Baby Doe campground at Turquoise Lake. Hard to get reservations as the site is just off the shoreline of a 3 mile long lake with 14000' peaks on the other side of the lake. There are mosquitos, but not too many as the lake is very cold at 10000'. Usually has highs in the low 70's and lows in the mid 40's in July. The lake should be full this year with all the snow.
