We took our foreign exchange student Eirin on an Out West trip before she had to head back to Norway.

Our trip started in NW Arkansas -
OKC National Memorial
The Cross @ Groom Texas
The Painted Desert and Petrified National Park
The Grand Canyon
Gouldings Trading Post
Monument Valley
Mesa Verde
Durango Colorado - Durango to Silverton RR
Taos Pueblo
...and a beautiful drive across US64 in Northern New Mexico.

Pictures can be found at: Eirin's Westward Adventure - May 2009

Did not use any of the facilities. Wife and Eirin used the facilities and stated that everything was nice and clean.

Park was nice. I had one of the fifteen 'full hookup' sites.

Rangers were chasing a bear out of the park when we left.

I would love to stay there a few more days. Fresh air. Beautiful scenery. Etc.

Register on-line before you go. It was taking 15 minutes a person to register when I got in line and there were at least 15 people trying to get campsites. I was 4th in line and had registered on-line. I was just waiting to get my site #. It took 57 minutes from the time I stood in line until I had the site #. When I got to my site, a fellow from New Foundland had arrived at 2PM, hooked up, pulled out the grill and lawn chairs, and was ready for a relaxing evening. I had to ask him to move as the pole even showed that the site was RESERVED!
