Nice report. Sorry the wine supply ran low. Like the sum list. Any of those squirrels fresh enough for a meal?

We saw several squirrels dining on their less fortunate brethren so I'd say they were fresh enough. Not for me personally, however....

We turned back South at the Arctic Circle, but we still got the rig just as dirty. We got our "Arctic Circle Pin" at that same restaurant North of the Yukon River and our "Arctic Circle Certificates" at the Wildwood General Store at mile 49 on the Elliott Hwy. It was fun watching the "sun not set".

Your trip brought back many fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

I got one more summer up here and hope to make that trip. We were going to go this year but found out you can't drive to the Artic Ocean, you have to take the tour so that kinda took the fun out of it. Seems like a whole lot of driving without much to look forward to, but I still want to go.

You have me wanting to go north for the two weeks, instead of making use of Tier 1 Caribou permit for Unit 13. Great pictures. Unfortunately it will be 4 years before I can get another one of those preference permits and the deep freeze is empty and am little hungry for game meet.

What are the rules or laws about driving the Dalton Highway? I *assume* it's closed to private citizens part of the year unless you're an Ice Road Trucker. Did you have to get a permit or pay a toll or what?

ETA: Did you see any of the wrecked trucks they're always showing on IRT??

Thanks,

Al

Now that's what a guy should be doing right about now, heading to the Alaska outback with a camper and a friendly tourist/wife/fishergal. Great looking trip, wish I were there giving fishing lessons.
