We visited that area in July, and not a day has gone by since they when I didn't wish I was still there! Thanks for posting the pictures, especially those of Camp Bird, as this is one flatlander who did turn around at the site of the shelf road. Wasn't sure whether the wheelbase of my truck would make it, and I sure didn't want to back up on the shelf! What a beautiful drive to that point, though.

Thanks for the photos. That's one of my favorite places in Colorado (and there are many). Dutch Charlie is also a favorite, especially on the hill. Plan to be in that area again in about three weeks.

Thanks,

You know, many years ago I tried to drive our old VW beetle up there and didn't make it. And I can tell you that it wasn't fun to drive in reverse all the way back down the steep slope I was on.

Beautiful scenes with great photography... thank you for sharing with us.

We were in that area in 2006... our truck camper wouldn't get us far off road but enjoyed the views where possible.
