We wintered in various places in Arizona for 5 or 6 years. Worked out fine because we didn't spend a whole lot of time inside and was very flexible for moving around.

For warm weather and water sports Baja is hard to beat in the winter months.

Not lots of water in Phoenix but we love Pueblo El Mirage. It is a Roberts Resort so just check out Roberts Resorts on the net. Great weather, no rain, and lots to see and do in the area.

Rockport & Fulton Area on the Texas Gulf Coast close to Corpus Christi and the Naval Air Station's Campground. >>>>Bay Fishing>>>>Fishing 2

Goose Island State Park, surrounded by the St. Charles and Aransas Bays, is located north of Rockport & near Fulton in Aransas County. Nice area by the Gulf of Mexico. I want to do this one someday. We have driven by this area, but have not stayed here. It is one I have on my to do list. Goose Island

Mustang Island State Park with about 5 miles of beach on the Gulf of Mexico in Nueces County, south of Port Aransas. Fishing We liked this one for the beach. We spend several days here one summer. Mustang Island

Also near Corpus Christi & Mustang Island, Padre Island Nat'l Park could be also. Nat'l SeaShore

Lake Corpus Christi State Park southwest of Mathis was a nice one. But not very close to Corpus. Lake CC
Mathis RV Park Reviews In the same general area, but I have not been to it is Choke Canyon State Park.

North of Rockport, Matagorda>>>Information>>>>>>Campgrounds

North & inland from Rockport: Goliad State Park is located by Goliad with a nice campground on the San Antonio River. A lot of Texas History in this area, some from same time as the famous Alamo fight. -NO Boating. Espiritu Santo

Can't give you any info on Private RV places. However, I did see this report on a place not far form Rockport. Port A

A recent post on Rio Grande Valley deep South Texas. ISLA BLANCA PARK a Cameron County Park on South Padre Island has a nice campground. We camped here one night. It is something like 150 or more miles from Rockport. Almost in Mexico. Isla Blanca

Away from the coast of RGV there are many RV Parks in Mission, TX which is fairly close to Falcon Lake and Falcon State Park.......Guide.....Fishing Report.....Map.....Tackle....Tackle 2

A little more northwest, up the Rio Grande is Del Rio which is close to the very nice Amistad Nat'l Rec'Area. >>>Park with Attractions Links and Laughlin AFB is nearby with a FamCamp

There could be other FamCamps in the area around Port Isabell and South Padre Island, perhaps Coast Guard.

Some neat areas inland in Texas:
Texas State Parks are really nice: Parks
South Llano River State Park adjoins Walter Buck Wildlife Management Area, south of Junction is great as is Pedernales Falls State Park in Blanco County east of Johnson City. We have been to both. Llano
Falls
LBJ's Ranch is near Johnson City as well as a Texas State Wildflower Museum-like place, the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is between JC and Fredericksburg (neat place to see as well), across the road from the LBJ Ranch a National Park now. LBJ Ranch
LBJ State Park
City
Nimitz

Goliad State Park is located by Goliad with a nice campground on the San Antonio River. (a lot of Texas History in this area, some from same time as the famous Alamo fight) Been to it and would go back.Goliad

Balmorhea State Park is located in the foothills of the Davis Mountains southwest of Balmorhea and nearby Davis Mountains State Park (along with the famous Big Bend Nat'l Park) are very nice places and one could spend a long time at each. Been to all except Davis, but it is nice areas, be sure to visit the old Fort Davis a nice place to see. Balmorhea

We love Pismo Beach, CA. The Pacific is cold, but for the most part, the weather is mild through the winter.

Lake Mead and the Colorado River (Laughlin/Bullhead City) should also be nice.

The SE side of California is pretty sweet. We head down there every Christmas for sunshine. Anza Borrega State Park, Death Valley and Joshua Tree to name a few toasty options. You have plenty of places to visit out west...
