We just returne from a week in Arkansas where we had the pleasure of staying at two of the States Parks. Petit Jean and Lake Fort Smith State Parks.

Petit Jean is advertisized as the Gold Standard of their Park System.
I almost agree. It's very pretty and there is much to see and do.
The Fall Colors were great-but the rain put a damper on many outside activities. But there is always next year. This is one of the oldst parks in the system, but it has been updated. We had full hookups in their AAA section @$22.08 per night.

Lake Fort Smith is a brand new park and is great. The spaces are very far apart and full hookups are again @ $22.08 per night. Lake fishing
boat rentals, swimming pool etc.

We are anxious to visit more of their parks again soon. We are impressed!

Be sure and try Mount Magazine SP (the hightest point in AR). It is just a few years old and the campground is beautiful, some spots with 50amp full hookups. They also have new cabins and a big lodge with a nice restaurant and an indoor pool. We are heading back up there next week for 4 more days. You can Google Mount Magazine SP for pictures.

While we just camped in the parking lot this week Crater of Diamonds is RV park is closed for a total make over. We enjoyed AR this past week except for the ethanol issue.

DW and I have also stayed at two Arkansas State Parks; Petite Jean and Sleepy Hollow. We were very impressed with both of them. Both were just overnight stays. One day we will have to go back and stay longer.

Thanks for sharing info on great CG's. I prefer State Parks over commercial places whenever possible.
