...the 1st ting we do will be to drive to a private beach at a small village I know (I'll get the police chief there {a buddy of mine} to watch the rig the entire time) directly on the Caribbean side of Honduras with not a single RV present, drink coconut water and rum, do some deep-sea fishing, and boondock (free) for 5 months [emoticon]

...my DW would kill me if she reads this!

You may have trouble finding campgrounds with space as you go south. Most have been very full this year. There are large caravans from Quebec filling up some of them especially around PV.

San Carlos and a little sun

See our camper on the far right, not a bad place for lunch.

Well we stumbled into a little bit of luck. El Sol and a wonderful place to spend a few days.
The Hotel Play De Cortes RV park. Just us and one other rig out of 52 spaces. Plus the Hotel facilities to use.

If we keep finding places like this my wife may stay on the trip longer.

I looked at the Playa De Cortes hotel from Google Earth. That area looks really nice. The bay looks very quite serene and peaceful as well. On the day the picture was taken for Google Earth there were no rigs in the RV Park. Looks like a great winter retreat!

Great pictures and a very interesting read. Thanks for letting us in on your trip. I would love to be camped in the San Carlos RV park right along with you. [emoticon]

Are you going to do any ocean fishing? I would like to get down to that part of Mexico and try it. Articles on the web say it's better on the Pacific side.

First let me give a little general information:
If your even thinking about an RV trip in Mexico you MUST buy a copy of “Travelers Guide to Mexican Camping” by Mike & Terri Church…….
It lists most if not all Mexican campgrounds and details each. We’ve only been in Mexico a few days and already feel it’s paid for itself.

That is how we found the “Hotel Playa De Cortes Trailer Park”, we are now staying in. The book says it’s good for pulling into for a good night’s sleep. We were doing just that but the walk to the main desk convinced us we had to stay longer. Tonight is our third and it’s going to be hard to leave this grand place. Three nights is almost a record stay for me, by the way!!!

We had the truck and camper hand washed better than I could do it for 100 pesos. Our laundry cost a lot more however, but they ironed all my jeans and even undershorts. We should have asked for only a wash and dry. Paying to have old jeans & underwear ironed is a little extravagant even in Mexico.

Best of all we had the restaurant serve our lunch by the pool the last two days. WOW is all I can say about that. We were by ourselves out there. (see the picture of the pool in my last post) Plus the best chicken tacos I’ve ever eaten.

A picture of the better half in the hotels courtyard.

One more of the San Carlos sea front. Can you see our camper? hint: look right.

Hotel Playa de Cortes

It's a little older than the pictures show but we sure liked it.
Check out the prices! The RV price is about $22 a night US.
