Well, actually it was only 2 amigos. You might say we were 1 amigo shy of a full deck. But that hasn't stopped either of us yet (especially, 1 of the amigos - if you take my drift)

Wait a minute -- here comes the 3rd amigo!
No -- looks like he got the snow he was hoping for.
(thanks to Whazoo for the original transparent gif)

Before we go any further, I just want to acknowledge that any post that follows Whazoo is going to be a disappointment. You have been warned.
That said, more, larger pictures are at here , and a few more follow.

The real 3 amigos
[image]

My friend, Dave on the left.
No - wait, on the right.
I think.

Here's a topo of the canyons in the area. It's a link because shrinking it to fit here makes it even harder to read.

Little Wild Horse Canyon -- a little narrow.

And a little steep.

"How do I get out of here?"

Not that way.

This way out.

After you -- it will stay open long enough to get through.

Made it.

Camper made (except for the boboli) pizza for dinner.
(How can a flash shot be out of focus? Must have been a wrong setting.)

Trailhead - Ding and Dang canyons.[image]

Does that really go through?

Dave getting 'dressed' -- not something one should watch.

No hands needed. (and don't slip)

After Ding and Dang, Dave drove up Temple Mountain road while I dove back toward Harksville to call my wife. Then I started following him.
In the ditch, the next morning. Most of the snow fell overnight.
Clearly, I was complacent, or guilty of driver error for not using 4(3) wheel or chains. I was probably hugging the left side, because I sure didn't want to go off the right. And I thought 'there's a lot of weight on that rear locker' right before the wheels slipped. Withing a second (seemed like), I was in the ditch.
A good tow driver and some luck means most of the damage was to my credit card.

Looks like Dave has already had a few glasses, huh?
No - he always looks like that.

Heading home

Cal,

I'd like to say I was there in spirit (I guess I was there in PhotoShop! [emoticon]) but while you guys were galloping around the backcountry I was working on my shoveling technique....

Although your presentation lacks some of the special effects employed by the Whazoomeister, they are no less enjoyable or impressive. Thank you for sharing. Looking at your culinary skills makes me even more determined to join you on a future trip!

Eric

Wow! ...that shot in the ditch looks nasty. Glad most of the damage was to your card. Great winter pics with the whazoo. Looks like a great trip. Thanks for posting Cal. [emoticon]

As I have learned from my feable attempts at trip reports ([emoticon]), we all enjoy trip reports as long as it includes pictures!

Great report and glad there wasn't any damage except the ego and wallet.

By the way, what did the tow cost out there in the boonies and how far did he have to come?

Not so Cal, not so. Thanks for a great trip post. I'm stuck here in NH for the time being and you guys are feeding my passion.

Keep it up.[emoticon]

Thanks for part two of your adventure.
I'd love to go hiking in out up down through those gullies.

Well now Cal, that is more like it! What Farctic said!! No disappointment here Pal, great imagination. But look, you could have at least let me put on my shades man, I mean a guy's gotta look cool for a picture. Not like some cheap date you pulled in off the desert. (I don't know, do I look a little like Ringo Starr?)

Very nice Cal, very nice...
