We had a wonderful trip to the Olympics, packed a lot into only two days. We took the 5 o'clock ferry from Swartz Bay and made it to out RV site at around 9:15 pm. There were 3 truck campers, the rest were Class A, B' and C's. People were there from Australia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria etc. most had rented these RV's. We took the shuttle into Whistler early the next morning and had a nice walk about the town, followed by a trip up the mountain on the Gondola where we met the Silver medalists in Luge from Latvia. I also met a very nice bunch of Americans and shared a beer with them too.[image]

First thing first. Yes, I was doing my part for International relations. [emoticon] After getting off the mountain, my wife and daughter went shopping while I watched the Canada Swiss hockey game in a bar in town. What a great bunch of fans the Swiss are, I enjoyed a beer with a few of them as well as an Austrian guy. Everyone was having some good natured ribbing towards each other, and it sure was fun watching both sets of fans POUND down the beer! Later that night, we went to the Award ceremony in Whistler, we saw our Latvian friends get their medal, followed by this DJ who had the joint jumping. Everyone was dancing and we had an absolute blast. The next day we took a chance and got off the bus early to check out the mens super G race, we got lucky and all got tickets. [emoticon] The weather for our trip could not have been better, it was really cool meeting and seeing all these interesting people. You guys would not believe how LOUD the giant Swiss cow bells were! I think the guy dressed as a goat or something was German, like I said, everyone was interesting and fun. It was also cool that we met up with my American friends again that I met the day before on top of the mountain. [image]

Delightful! Some fun images - the x-country skiers watching the hockey game on the big-screen TV, folks from all over the world (you can tell from their jackets), the RCMP's smiles in the picture with the Canadian fans, etc. Thanks for sharing. Wish I'd been there too! [emoticon]
