On April 1st three motorhomes left Tampa from our winter in Naples. Our good friends Bill and Donna Gore and Donna's sister Ruth Wyatt were traveling as the 3rd coach in their 2006 Holiday Rambler Imperial. We noticed they were not behind us, we exited and went searching for them only to find their RV crashed into trees and completely burned. They had a blowout on the right front Goodyear tire. Lost control crashed into trees and their propane tank ruptured and ignited. In a matter of minutes their coach was reduced to ashes. Bill Gore was an avid RV'er loved his motorhome and maintained it immaculately. He had checked his tire pressure before leaving Naples. The tires had 50,000 miles and looked great. We lost 3 great longtime friends. So life can change in an instant. We do not know how or if this could have been avoided. I have never experienced a front blowout on a 46,000lb vehicle traveling at 65mph. I have read testimonials about using a Saftey-T-Plus front stabalizer could have prevented this tragedy. I will have one installed on my Navigator before my next trip. So, please never take your tires for granted. Drive safe....

This is the reason we just had a Steer Safe system installed on our coach 2 months ago, to assist if we ever blew a front tire. Sorry to hear about your friends and fellow HR owners. Do you have any idea of the age of those Goodyear tires?

Yes they were 4 yrs old. Mr Gore kept his motorhome indoors heated building on concrete with plastic pads under tires.

Accidents do happen and sometimes there is no avoiding them. I'm sorry for the loss of your friends.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friends.

It's a good time to evaluate our own rv's and think about what can be done to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

I would be interested in hearing more about the Safety Plus front stabilizer and the steer safe system.

I wonder if they had a tire pressure monitoring system? Might it have helped identify a problem earlier?

So sad and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the RV friends they had. I tend to worry about these types of situations so when my 75 year old parents are following me I am always worried about not seeing them in the mirrors (not saying age is necessarily a factor). They were also on there way home to MN from New Mexico traveling alone when I heard about this happening and I was then worried for them until they arrived home.

My tires still look great but are 7 years old this year. I have an appointment for new tires this Thursday.
