I'm not much of a shutterbug but thought I'd share what I have from my new camper. Left home Sunday afternoon to pick up my new Northstar 8.5 Adventurer at the factory in Iowa. Got her loaded up on Tuesday after getting there late Monday and spending the night in it in the Northstar parking lot.

Somewhere in the middle of South Dakota I pulled into a rest area for a much needed break. Kind of a lonely place...

Finally made it to my first destination (Raynolds Pass Fishing Access Site in Montana) late Thursday. Had great weather the whole drive until I was about 20 minutes away from Raynolds pass, then hit a Thunderstorm. The rain let up but kept getting showers throughout the evening.

The showers continued and the temperature kept dropping until I woke up in the morning to this-

Could've been worse...

Spent the day there but didn't have that much luck fishing. With the temperatures in the low 40's and winds in the 20's I can't say I gave it much of an effort. The next night the temps got down to 19 so I decided to move on in the morning. Took a drive past Quake Lake on my way to Yellowstone.

The snow covered part of the mountain on the left is where the mountain slid down to form a dam in a 1959 earthquake that formed the lake.

There's currently only one road open in Yellowstone between the west and north entrance, plus the road to the northeast entrance, but that was closed on the other side of Cooke City. This wasn't my first trip to Yellowstone but my previous visit was mid summer. I was curious what it was like now. Lots of typical buffalo jams (no pics. sorry). I had hoped to see lots of baby buffalo but I guess I was a little too early. There's no doubt a lot of snow falls there. We don't get snow drifts like this back east.

Made my way east and am typing this at the Big Rock FAS on the Boulder River. At least the temperature here is a little more moderate, but the stream flow is 650 CFS when typical for this time of year is 250. Gonna see how the fishing is shortly...

Congratulations! Nice trip pics, too! Ya gotta love the NorthStar Campers!

R.C Willett builds an honest and well made camper...and has done so for almost 50 years! And it seems like they specialize in truck campers that will fit smaller 1/2 ton trucks, yet also have a few that require a dually...or a long bed truck! And a choice of either Aluminum or laminate construction, with tried and true pine wood 2x3 stud construction and great insulation. I really like these campers! Northstar 8.5 Aventurerfloor plans and pictures. What a great adventure! Nice compact rig, but all the ammenities...cozy and tight too!

And check out the FlatBed truck mounted Escape POD! You can use your Stake Bed truck for hauling or work during the week, and mount the POD on it and go fishing on the weekends!

Todd and I loved your pictures, they made us very jealous. I bet the Northstar stayed nice and cozy in those cold temps. Have fun!

Congrats on the new camper. Gotta love the double propane tanks on the Adventurer. It's the one thing missing on my Laredo.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am one happy camper! Since it's just me I didn't need a huge camper. I wanted, and got, something that this 3/4 ton will carry without even flinching and will let me get to practically anywhere the truck could go without the camper. Considering the 3.5 miles of washboard gravel road I drove to get to the Big Rock FAS, I probably should've called this the shakedown cruise. [emoticon]

DECamper/Nina: You would win that bet. The furnace ran, obviously, but there were no chills or drafts that I noticed. The insulated windows were great.

Northstarbirder: Actually, the Adventurer only comes standard with a single tank. That's one of the custom mods they did for me on this camper.
