Some of this is utter nonsense. There is nothing scary about driving US 1 in the Keys.

Ditto. I-70 west out of Denver scarry? Nope.

They should try driving US-64 just west of Highlands, NC hauling a truck camper and towing a jeep on a car hauler. Now that is scarry. [emoticon]

For highway traffic... I-95 from Richmond VA to Conn.

For scarry...

From Uray, Colorado to Durango

or the road up to Mesa Verde will make you light headed. Both bothered my wife a lot.

None of the roads listed above bothered me.

What a bunch of dribble. A cool one-liner to sell mags, but otherwise a stupid waste of time.

I5 in the valley is scary in the winter. It is not the road but the weather. Night time in the winter can produce fog that you can't see more than 20 feet. There is very little warning that you are entering the fog bank but when you do it becomes very scary to know there might be someone ahead who has slowed to 20 mph and behind you they are going 75. I tend to get off the road and park it.

Missed Christmas eve one year because I was too scared to drive in those conditions. As I recall there were 5 or 6 people killed in a 30 car pileup that night right about where (Stockton) I found a place to get off and park.

50 in NV can be scary in winter because you are way out there and not much traffic if you have trouble.

I15 between LA and Vegas is indeed scary.

40% of the drivers are rather inebriated.

Another 40% is trying to set land speed records, or set a record for the number of lane changes in a minute.

Unfortunately, those two groups have a significant amount of overlap. (I've seen lotsa wrecks on that road, and I only drive it 2-3 times a year...)

I can think of far scarier roads to drive than that list, Many of them I have driven on and they are listed in the Mountain Driving book. They should drive some of those roads before they came up this list.

Just my Opinion.

Ditto on I-5 in winter. That fog is something else. I used to commute that road, and one day when it was really foggy I decide to take a different route. A 10-car pileup and resulting fireball killed 8 people that day right along my route. Sure glad I don't live down there anymore.
