Thanks for posting on an area that many of us are not familiar with but now are interested in seeing more of.

Nice pictures. Looks like an easy trip to haxe a very relaxing time. Got to drive through the area and up to Silver City a few years ago but no camping just sights. It is a beautiful area up there.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That country is about as different from the land here in the southeast as land can be. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing the great pics and report. Just another place on my ever growing list of places to visit once I retire.

Sure am glad it was only your dog's pads that had been over worked.

It's about as different from the land here on the west side of Oregon too and it's only 400 miles from here.

We camped at the North Fork campground that is in your pictures a couple of weeks ago, 4 days and with the exception of 2 people on a motorcycle that stayed one night...not a single person other than ourselves there. It was like having our own private campground. Your pics make me want to go back.. but the thermometer that says it's 99 degrees outside tells me to wait for fall. We took the Jeep up that road past the Payne cabin (the second cabin in your post) and on into Bull Basin. I've taken that route numerous times, but it never gets old. Absolutely nothing for as far as you can see in any direction. And a bit of info for your next trip. We had a chance to spend some time talking with Ted and Mrs Payne that own/lease a large chunk of that area. Very nice people. They indicated that they would be posting signs at all the entrances to their property saying that it is OK to go onto their property but to please give them a call to tell them you were there. Now I don't quite know how one is going to call them given that there is no cell service out there, but they also said people could stop by their ranch and check in. It's the first ranch on the right past North Fork. They seemed to not only have no problem with people trekking all over the property, but encouraged it... if they check in first. I for one plan to give them a call ahead of time whenever I'm planning a trip to that area. They are in the Jordan Valley phone book.

DJ,

That's some fantastic looking country there, and your pictures are very enticing. With all that out your back door why would you want to go anywhere else? Definitely my kind of place - rugged, serene, beautiful, and just beggin' for exploration. Go easy on the doggie there though - get her an RC ATV!

Thanks for the ride-along!
