I'm glad to see that everyone is enjoying the trip report. It takes a surprising amount of work to put one together that includes very many pictures. I know I worked on Part-1 for a solid week in my spare time. It's fun though, and it gives me an opportunity to relive a fun trip that flew by entirely too fast.

Another thing I do to keep the vacation memories fresh in my mind, is to use the pictures we took (all 650+) as a screen-saver slide show on my laptop. I set the screen-saver to start after just a very few minutes of inactivity, so I get to see them as much as possible. My brain's not getting any younger, and you know what they say about short-term memory, right? Good, because I have no idea where I was going with that. [emoticon]

Steve (Steve_in_29), I actually was thinking of trying to contact you as we were passing through your area. We had been talking about all of the places we were interested in going in California, and Joshua Tree was one of them. Of course, JT is south of I-40, and the vast majority of the places we wanted to visit were to the North, and our vacation was slipping past faster than we wanted (don't they all?) So, we choose to stay North of I-40 on this trip. There are so many places we still want to visit though, and "West" is our preferred direction by far (and, retirement is only a few years away!), so I'm sure there will be other opportunities in the future. I look forward to meeting you someday.

I'm working on Part-2 now, and it will cover just the "California" part of our vacation, or what I'm calling our "Californee-cation" [emoticon] .

....for me, it is mentally and physically taxing to put together a Trip Report; its an all-consuming endeavor. I think about the process several times a day, and even dream about the in-progress Report at times. Setting a Trip Report deadline makes the whole process more anxiety-ridden...

....but in the end, the result is often rewarding in many ways.

Cheers,

Thanks for the posting all the nice photos and trip report. I know you will enjoy Yosemite. You need to come out and visit in the Spring when all the Waterfalls are in their full glory. It is a sight not to be missed! If you get a little bit of time, go visit Sequoia/Kings Canyon also. Enjoy!
