I only had a few days and I really just needed to get away from any electronic tethers. Big Sur, Kirk Creek NFS Campground has no hook ups, no cell service, just spectacular views, just what the doctor ordered.

We loaded up Friday night and headed out on Saturday morning, me my wife Ruth and our three dogs in an 03 F350 with a 08 Lance 1055. I'm still working out all the settings but if this trip is any indication, I am getting close as the ride was excellent. Thr front Rancho 9000 XL were at 6 and the rears were at 8, My Brigestone Revos were at 65 front and 80 rear and the lift bags were at 60 which had the overload snubbers firmly in contact with the overlaod leafs.

The first few miles were on a two lane road coming down from the top of the Santa Cruz Mts to Hwy 17 at Lexington reservoir 2500' of drop in 5 miles in second gear with very little sway. Then it was up and over the summit of 17 at 1800' and then the easy grade to Santa Cruz and hwy 1 south to Monterey and Big Sur.

I'm familiar with that camping area. I stayed there for a week back in 1980 and a few nights in 1983 then again in 1987. I was in a tent all 3 times. Very nice place. If I remember correctly there is a trail leading down to the water at the south end of the camping area. Do you still just put your money in the envelope and drop it in the box? Thanks for the pix. Brings back memories.

I got to try out the Honda 2000 companion and it worked great

the temps the first day were near 70 then it dropped to the low 30s at night. Believe it or not with two adults and 3 dogs we turned off the heater and had to open the roof vent above the bed to keep from getting too hot.
