OP here. Just to let everybody know we had a wonderful time in NM. Went to Carlsbad Caverns the first day which was a good thing with the 30 mph winds out. The alien museum and shops the second day, and visited my old Friend Smokey the Bear the third day along with The Valley of Fire Park and headed home the fourth day. We wanted to have two or three days to make the trip home. The three kids were really getting restless in tight quarters by then. So the less time in the pickup at a time the better.
And to kennethwooster, yes we go through Guymon to get to Black Mesa. I used to live in Booker, TX 15 years or so ago and my wife was born and raised in Beaver, OK just 45 miles north east of you guys. We go out there as much as we can because I really miss home. Is the lake south of Perryton still open with Rv sites?
