Hello Cruiser,

Like most CG membership programs, there are some pluses and minuses. We like RPI because they do have a central reservation system. Some other programs (C2C?)require you to buy coupons in advance at your homepark and then redeem them when you arrive at a CG. Also, RPI is only $5.00 per night where C2C is a little higher and their annual dues are a little less than C2C.

We have always been able to get a reservation via telephone, sometimes on only a day or two notice, however, there is a small reservation fee. We have only used their CGs in California and the southwest, but their CGs are not always close to the interstates which may be either a plus or a minus.

We did a little better on the membership cost by using Choice Camping which is more like a subscription than an ownership program. They offer subscriptions from one to ten years or perhaps longer. RPI's annual fee is $65.00 but we have no annual dues or maintenance fees at our home park (The Caverns RV Resort)and we camp there free of charge for up to 14 days per year. Yes, there is the 7 day rule as well as the 175 mile radius from the homepark requirement.

Choice Camping offers both C2C and RPI, but I'd recommend comparing both as there are significant differences. You may want to check out their web site at www.choisecamping.com.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions just ask.

Happy RVing!

Randj,

We were given the membership by some aquaintances who no longer were RV'ing at no cost. The park charged us a $200 transfer fee and has $99 per year dues. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

It's called Five Star Resort in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Never been there.

I bought in at $500 at Ft. John and $99yr renewal fee plus C2C fee. My campground went bankrupt the first year and I was out $500. Bad taste in my mouth.

I have seen memberships on ebay. I bought mine from a reseller. Email me for number as I don't think I should post.

Hi John.. When Ft. John RV park went out of business, most of the members were offered several other parks in the C2C system that they transfer their membership to.. Were you?? Anyway, that has been my understanding and know of several that now belong to another park up in Utah, and they seem to be happy with their new home park.. I believe that there annual dues are also $99/year..
A lot of the people that joined Ft. John had never been there, but were using that park as a way of belonging to C2C or RPI..

I was a member of Fort John and was probably one of the few members who actually visited the park. My wife and I stayed there a few days in April 2000 and got to know the owners well. When they went bankrupt we transferred our membership to Antelope Valley RV Park in Delta, Utah. There was no transfer fee and our annual dues are $99 a year.

WE gave up our C2C home park and dropped out of C2C. Never used it much. Pay a lot to home park we never went to but maybe once a year.
