I went to a wholesale building supply house in Orlando and got the Franklin brand FRP for $14.00 There are alternatives like DAP and PAL. Many dealers are short supply due to recession in construction. Grainger also once carried latex FRP. When you find the FRP, trowel it on with a "V" notch trowel. DO NOT USE LIQUID NAILS. USE LATEX WATER BASED FRP. Sears carrys DAP Durabond for about $20 in Gal size.Item# SPM197321367 |Model# 60480
I am supprised why Lowes will not special order the lauan for you...they did for me....It took me about 3 weeks but it was perfect. You might want to contact Lowes National customer service and be sure to mention the Lowes number and the SKU. A number of times I have had Jerks (employees) at both HD and Lowes tell me that things are not available or not in stock and I have found them my self. Be persistant (PITA) I had the manager at the contractor desk and the Store manager help me. The national site just says unavailable at the Bangor Maine site...check other stores.
This is NOT a stock item but can be ordered. I bought 2 sheets even though I needed only one due to the pain in trying to find proper materials. 1/8" is the perfect fit...5/32 NO.
As an alternative Lowes carries 1/8 door skins which are 3X8. These are stocked back in the windows and door department.

I picked up a piece of 3/16 luan from a buddy who had some excess. I'll make it work. The spray on Latex FRP arrived today. I'm in business.

Here's what I found. Crappy but not as bad as it could have been.

Cleaned up and ready to go back together. Interesting that the residual luan and adhesive came off quite easily and quickly on the inner piece of filon but not so much on the outer one. Sun baking had something to do with it maybe? How important is it that I get both pieces that clean??

A carpenter friend suggested using paneling instead of luan as a laminate for the filon. It's 1/8" and the unfinished side can be glued to the filon with FRP adhesive. Sounds like a good idea to me. Anyone else consider this?

This is my post from page 3 of this topic.. yes I used 1/8 paneling arent these projects fun
I bought this Truck camper this winter as a project for me and my 7yr old boy Evan. It had rot on left rear corner due to awning installation, and the right wing rot due to road spray and bad seal. The left sewer wing is good. The camper is very nice and has a generator. Botton line is I didnt want to spend alot of money on a camper, and we love projects. Ill have 4500.00 total price of camper and repairs. Now I did all of repairs myself. The picture of the camper on my truck was the day I brought it home. The rear wing was bad so I removed it and replaced it with 3/4 plywood and glued 1/8 plywood to it with liquid nails and brad nails. The fiberglass panel is PFR bought in 4x8 sheets at Lowes 35.00 sheet. Got latex PFR glue used v notch trowl and glued the PFR to the 1/8 plywood. Once glued use hand roller do roll the PFR into the glue start in the middle and remove the air. Ill reuse all trim pieces. Use old wing as pattern for the new 3/4, 1/8 and PFR pannel The slide out was bad also same thing rebuilt with 3/4 x 1 1/2 pine from Lowes some steel angle brackets and the 1/8 plywood. (mom pop lumber yards have old 4x8 1/8 ugly panneling that I bought for 5 bucks a sheet and use the BACK to glue the exterior to.) So far it has turned out great. Ill install the slide out tomorrow. Ill put the laminate floor in the camper and the slide out. Lowes usually has 2-3 boxes of the lamanate floor on clearance. Evan and I will be camping at hit miss engine shows this summer in style. Ill post more pics later thanks for looking, pictures are not in order

What did you say you used as a sealant, under the end cap strips and seams? I thought I read something call Dynaflex or something like that?
