This appears to be some land slide (granular material) that has scrubbed what little growth there was, away...

I agree. These jagged broken rock fragments probably act like rip-rap (road builders/civil engineers will know what this is).

Thanks for taking us along on such a wonderful adventure to a place few of us will ever make. Hiking at altitude isn't an option for me so I really appreciate your trip.

Knowing pictures never do justice, I can only imagine the feelings that stirred your soul as you sat there looking at all of the grandeur layed out before you.

I'm so amazed those beautiful flowers can grow there!!!

Thanks for letting us hitchhike along with you. Those rocks make my ankles hurt!!! Especially now as I sit here with my ankle wrapped in ice. Took a header going into a restaurant the other night. One of those stupid "artsy" curvy sidewalks that I stepped on the edge!!!! [emoticon]
