if there is enough interest here in the next few months i can also book a private "red bus" tour. it seats 17 guests and that price divided up was pretty good really, cheaper that booking for one or two people.

its something im thinking about as ive always driven and it would be nice to sit back and look more. as it depends on if the pass will be open or not its kind of a wait and see thing. they did tell me that if they cant drive over the pass they could arrange for other destinations in the park too. plenty early enough to figure it out.
there are also other shuttle buses that operate with in the park.

We are planning on being there as part of our trip out west again. We love Montana and Idaho.

Sounds like a lot of fun; wish it was about 1,500 miles closer.

Are truck campers allowed on the Going to the Sun Highway?

There is a size restriction but I can't recall it now.

I am sure going to pencil this one in!!! DW has never been to Glacier.

here is info on part of the link from the nps web site..

Are there vehicle size restrictions on the Going-to-the-Sun Road?
Yes. To help reduce congestion, vehicle size restrictions are in effect. Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Rising Sun picnic area parking. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs. Stock trucks and trailers are able to access Packers Roost on the west, and Siyeh Bend on the east.

more info on this link

thats another reason why i am looking at doing the "red bus" tour. i also usually keep my tc on the truck all the time. so you are able to drive a short ways into the park....or ...drop the camper at the resort.

Hmmmmm.... we're thinking of taking another west trip next summer. Glacier is one of the most awesome places we've ever visited.
