If you are talking about here:

I do not think that they even look remotely similar.

Funny you mention Action Camper (or, Thaler Design GmbH). I was just reading about them in my copy of Overland Journal (Gear Guide, 2012) per the SEMA trade news. These camper are designed and made in Austria (here-->). The slide-in (a full bore truck camper) I was reading about is ~440-LBS, made for the Jeep Wrangler JK.
They seem like very nice expedition-grade slide-in campers. The European price is E39,600 ($51,844 as of today's conversion factor). Apparently, they are near landing a US distributor (who the distributor will be ? No idea as yet).
Quote: It's obviously a camper and the Jeep qualifies as a truck - in what way is it not a TC?
You're right on the money. It is absolutely a truck camper in every way possible. Have a look at the CAD renderings from my link above.
Cheers,

Correct. Used the wrong brand name. Should have been Active Campers.

With all respect the active camper's only resemblence is the tent. The action camper is built completely different inside and out.
Man, though 53k USD? Seriously. Wow. Looks pretty sweet for sure, but way pricey.

If you think that's too expensive, check out the Phoenix Pop Up Truck Campers for a base price of $18,500. They make a similar unit for the Jeep JK 4 door.

Here's their web site (not the best site):
