Hi All,

Just out at my local Walmart, they have a battery labeled Maxx 24DC Deep Cycle for trolling, etc. It is 94 amp hours and has a 2 year replacement warranty. Sticker says it is good for 30% more cycles (than the normal Everstart Marine I assume). Price is $79. In my searching for RV batteries, this one does not look too bad?

Interesting if you go to the website, and search for MAXX deap cycle batteries, the picture is of a MS model (I assume that means marine start?)not the one in the store.

You all's thoughts?

94 amp hours from a group 24 is a deep cycle. Probably the 100 hour rate.
DC 27 is a bit bigger if needed and will fit.

On edit: Actually the 94 would seem to be Reserve Capacity (RC) minutes and not amp hours. Still a deep cycle. Just don't compare the wrong units and expect additional performance.

before you buy ,look at the date it was made, if older than six months go find another wal mart. or ask when the next shipment is coming in.

Will probably be better than the EVERSTART but I never got more than about a year out of an Everstart battery. If you dry camp you'd probably be better off with a better battery but if you MOSTLY camp with hook ups the Max will work just fine.
Good luck / Skip

It is 73 amp hours, not 94, Wal-mart rates the capacity of the battery at the one amp rate, so it will last 94 hours at that rate.

However for comparison you should use the 20 hour rate, and at that rate it's 73 amp hours.

Other than that. Not a bad battery, just small.

Charge that battery @ 4 amps for at least 8 hours when you get it home. This excellently conditions new plates, stirs the electrolyte and gets things off to a good start. For the techhies: let the voltage rise to 15 then terminate the charge.

100AH is possible from a GR 24. Trojan rates the SCS 150 @100 AH for 20 hour rate. The Gr 27 version is rated at 115 AH.
