We will be at Coulter Bay RV Park in 2 weeks for 3 nights. One adult in our party has limited walking ability so I am looking for sightseeing experiences besides driving that you can highly recommend.

1. Can you recommend a float trip on the Snake River that you took, the time of day you took it, and the outfit that you booked it through?

2. Is there a boat trip on one of the lakes you would recommend?

3. Is there a scenic view you recommend that takes a minimunm amount of walking to get to from where you park?

4. Is there a museum that you highly recommend?

Any help is appreciated.

Here is a website that should be helpful:

The Jenny Lake boat tour is one possibility.

I brought a meduim quality 4 person raft able to manage class II rapids and floated the Snake river twice. First day was just below the Jackson Lake dam and it was mightly slow going to the take out near Moran Junction. Second day was a little more exciting putting in at the area near Moran Juction and taking out at Deadmans Bar. I was not willing to go any further with the equipment and my level of expirence to safely navigate the increasing rapids further downstream. From what I saw further downstream of Deadmans Bar and south of Jackson was a lot of exciting rapids best left to the experts. We saw lots of great wildlife and the views of the Tetons are clearly fantastic. There were several outfits that run the river and I'm sure they all do a great job.

Colter Bay RV park is managed by Grand Teton Lodge Company. GTLC also operates most of the concessions in the park like rafting, horseback riding, guiding, boating and bus tours.

I worked two seasons for GTLC and can say that their services and activities are among the best in the area. I would recommend you book your activities through them. There is an activities desk located at Colter Bay very close to the RV park and one at Jackson Lake Lodge.

We just got back from the Tetons.

We did the afternoon float trip down the snake river from Dead Man's Bar to Moose village with Barker Ewing. We also loved the boat trip and hike across Jenny Lake. We had a great lunch at the Jenny Lake lodge.

I also can recommend the Barker Ewing float trip. We went in 2008, the river was high and fast, but the float trip was relaxing and delightful and we did not get even a little bit wet.

We also took the boat tour from Coulter Bay marina and it also was very nice and let you see the area from a different perspective.

A month ago while there we booked a float and white water combo with Jackson Hole White Water. They, like all the rest, are located in Jackson. We had a blast! No issues, friendly employees, it was great, highly recommend them.
