Take three steps back and admire, then give yourself a hearty pat on the back. Great job.
$1000.00????? And for a lesser crafted door.

I need a new cabin door on my 40' fiberglass gillnet boat in Alaska. Even though I'm a retired woodshop teacher, I'd never even thought of building one myself. Thanks for the inspiration!

2001 25' Keystone Sprinter 5th wheel, 2001 Dmax, CC, LB, 2wd, 285/75/16, with new injectors/head gaskets/CP3/water pump at 146,000. Rebuilt Mike L tranny and Trent Nell/EPR tow tune.

I started to rebuild the entry door on my truck camper because it had some rot in the bottom, and it was sagging so much that it was dragging against the door frame.

When I took it apart, I noticed right off that the factory didn't put enough wood for the frame in the door... I know they wanted to cut down on weight.

So I built a new door and I built it A LOT stronger!!!.. I used 2x6's for the outside frame, and 3 short pieces of 2x4's and a couple 2x2's... I also put L-brackets in the corners.

To skin the new door, I bought a 4x8 sheet of Sequentia white FRP wall panel from Lowe's for $37.40... It will not mold, mildew or rot and its very easy to cut and work with!..(just make sure you wear a mask when cutting it)... I used some contact cement from Lowe's to glue it to the wood, and it sets up very quick!

The door is very well built, and its much heavier than the old door but will last a long time... In the old door they had a window at the bottom, and when I built a new one I didn't want to add it back in.

I checked Online to see how much new doors costs, and couldn't believe they were $1,000 dollars... I have a little over $60 dollars in this door, and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!

Very nice job
