Nice trip report. Enjoyed the air show and landscape pictures. It'll be a few years before we get to do this. Thanks for the preview.

Combat fishing and you chasing a bear?! Those are great mental pictures to follow all your others. I didn't know there was so much fun to be had in Alaska. Thanks mucho, wish I could visit sometime.

That evening after seeing the bears, we pulled into Tok Alaska.
We decided to stay at a Campground for showers and laundry. One thing for the five of us in the Avion, but that means that we don't have a lot of room for lots of clothes. So more laundry was needed.

The next morning we said our goodbyes, and they headed south, and we headed north. The next destination for us was the Denali Highway, but if we had already had our pass-ports... we were really wanting to follow our great friends south....

After crossing this river, we had some of the family that needed a pit stop, so we pulled off at a road side stop, that was also a BLM campground. When the business was done, we found that the bushes were wild raspberries, so we got busy picking for a while, and filled a few bowls with berries before getting back on the road. Boy were they tasty!

Then we spotted an access road from the BLM area to a river access area. We wish we would have had a few days to explore this area even more. We were about half way between Tok and Delta Junction.

We drove a while longer and stopped in at the Reindeer Sausage factory, and got many different types of sausages and pepperonis. Excellent meats!! This was just before we got to Delta Junction. As we came within the city limits we say a sign for a garage sale, and found quite a large shop full of treasures. It was either good or bad that we didn't have alot of room, because the prices were decent, and alot of good guy and gal stuff... As it was we got a Humphrey propane RV light for a dollar, a new ATV tire for $40 and a weed burner for $5. Plus momma and the kids found a few treasures.
But then my 11 year old went crazy as we drove by a Alaskan guys play-ground...

On a side street from there, we found one of the most unique travel trailers I believe that we have ever come across....

It had been enitirely coated in spray foam. So I guess that is one way to seal an RV from water and Air intrusion.[emoticon][emoticon]

As we entered Delta Junction, we found that we had come across some of the better gasoline prices in quite a while...

Across the street they had a small "Farmers Market" at a sort of Historical Park about the early days of building the Highway from Tok to Delta Junction.

Then we turned south to head towards Paxson on the Richardson Highway after fueling up.

More to come!!!!

Thanks for the nice trip report! Sure looks like a worthwhile place to travel. I'll put it down on the list... ;-)

Thanks again,

Garry, that sure is some beautiful country up there. Your Avion looks right at home in that environment.
