We decided to make it a three day weekend and go to a place with some moderate hikeing to test Ruths knee and alos do some winery hopping and wine tasting. Lopez Lake in San Luis Obispo County Ca seemed to fit the bill.

Sturday morning we hit the local breakfast joint and then the highway around 8:30 am. We hit San Luis around 1pm and started in at Edna Winery
nice wines, great scenery. Ended up at Talley Vinyards even better wines .

Then we went up to Lake Lopez. Nice place but unless you like crowded noisy campgrounds during the day (at night the water ski crowd turned in early) skip Friday night and Saturday night. By Sunday morning there were less than a dozen campers left in the whole park and it was awesome.

We turned in early and even with the windows open and the fantastic fan on 2 we stripped off most of the bedding and ended up with a light blanket. I doubt it got below 60 in the TC.

Sunday morning we had a great breakfast then headed out for some trail hiking. This would be the first test of the compression kne support that we bought for Ruth. It was a success no knew soreness or swelling during or after the hike.

There were White Pelicans and Bufflehead ducks on the Lake

Later Sunday night we went out star gazing

Monday we had to head out to where there was cell service for Ruths 10am conference call so we took a dawn hike down to the lake

the campground was empty

Both of us have to be up at 4 am on Tuesday for work so sadly we headed towards home at noon and rolled into the driveway at 3pm.
