The family and I took our annual winter camping trip. We live in mid-Michigan and decided to visit a family friend in Grand Rapids. To start we did a little snow tubing at Pando we scored a free pass and a buy one get one free on Friday Pando Ski area

We spent 3 hours there being dragged up and sliding down fun was had by all

After snow tubing we packed up and headed to my wife’s friend’s house in Rockford , MI. We parked in her driveway for the night and enjoyed some beers and great company. On Saturday we sleep in and made a good breakfast

We then headed out to American RV they were having an open house with free chili and hot dogs. They also had a new Lance 1172. Just wanted to take a look not in the marked for buying.
We ended up going out for pizza with my Wife’s friend and daughter’s . It was getting late so we decided to spending another night in the driveway then headed north to Muskegon MI, to the Muskegon winter sports complex to try some Luge racing.

If you haven’t tried this you should, it’s the only luge track open to the public, you pay $40 per person and you get 2-1/2 hours of instructions and track time. You will get about 6 to 8 runs depending on how quick your group is and how fast you can carry your luge up the stairs. The track is about 700 ft long and you go 25 to 30 mph. all of us did it including my 8 year old daughter.

Here is the starting gate

After 4 or 5 runs they start a competition. There is a Men’s and a Women’s division top 3 best times in each will get medals. Game on.

my wife had a great run and finished 3rd

My two boys battled it out and the younger one just beat out his brother for 3rd place But Dad out did them both for 2nd

As they say in Luge racing there is only one winner and everybody else is Lugers. We are now a family of Lugers

The Wife and I can now say we have metaled in a Olympic sport

The Muskegon State campground is also open now year round. They plow one loop for winter camping Elec. only.
