Just finished a fun five day loop in the desert in our "Green Ghetto-Way". More in a bit.......

-250 miles of desert dirt
-40 gallons of water
-19mpg on highway at 72mph
-15mpg on dirt
-No flats, mechanical issues, or other drama
-Diggin' the diesel

Day 1 was a 290 mile drive south on the interstate, with the standard "try to keep the 22 month old entertained" routine. Pretty uneventful, thankfully. Then a quick hike up a cool slot/drainage to clear the brain.

Now a short drive to camp.

The kid, and his parents, are wasted from the chaos of the desert commute.

Tomorrow we go further south and disappear for a while.

Awesome! Are you going to share where the loop is or is it a fisherman's secret?

I don't know who's the bigger braver more daring adventurer, the toddler or the mom and dad climbing those rocks. Nice spot you guys found.

Most of it is pretty common knowledge, but at the end of the report, if there's something you want to know, then yeah, I'll message you the location.

Okay, I believe my kids are great parents, but you guys are right up there! What great memories you are building for the little guy (and for yourselves)! I was many years older than that before I saw anything nearly so beautiful as that countryside. He may be a handful now, but he will thank you later for the wonderful childhood! Have fun and be safe!

^^^Thanks. He probably won't remember this stuff, but hopefully the pics will stick around and he'll get to see them for nostalgia later in life.

Day 2 was some hiking in Zion, then headed south to get away from people for a while.

Could you message me about your locations, both camps? We like to get away from people, also. Btw, wonderful photos, especially the close up of your son. Thank-you.

Dang I love the SW Deserts. Great pics by the way. Stuff like this makes me laugh when someone posts as to why you would want to go to the desert as it's so desolate with nothing to see.
