Decided to attend a local festival and drive part of the Parkway for a weekend trip. Beautiful fall day but foliage color at 3000' was disappointing. Lot's of yellow and brown. Just like fishing reports I hear "should have been here LAST week".

The Blue Ridge Folklife Fstival has gotten huge. What should have been a 1 hour drive took 2.5 hours. I know people behind me were jealous when I would hop out and use my bathroom and get a drink from the fridge!

Lo and behold, another TC in the parking lot!

The coon dog water race was popular. My Grandad would be proud this tradition is still ongoing. He was a founding father of the Blue Ridge Coon Hunters Assoc. I grew up watching these races.

I had one of these, I'm still not sure if it WAS my old one, the owner was not around.

No samples at this display!!

This one was actually working, minus a couple of key ingredients. Franlin County Va "Moonshine Capital Of The World"!!

Apple butter making.

You know you are getting old when a lot of your old cars/trucks are displayed as antiques.

Where's the colors??

Some color at 1400'

I get back home and look out my front window and wonder "why did I go looking for color"??

Could be better farther South. As they change later the farther South you go.

The weather man here predicted an early fall color change. I guess he was right.

Obx:

Nice to see all that sunshine! Some incredibly interesting tractors, at what looked to be a good fest.

When we travel to see leaf colors, most times we are disappointed, and on returning home, are dazzled by our local maple, beach, aspen and ash.

We are bracing for 8 to 12 inches of snow on friday [emoticon] this event will be exclusive to vermont, new hampshire, northern new york and quebec [emoticon] our rig is stored away for winter as of 9 am this morning...

Cheers,

I was up there in early October and it was beautiful. The leaves changed earlier than usual this year, according to the locals.

Even without "full" colors, it's still beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! [emoticon] ...and yes, I see cars at shows that I had NEW that are now considered vintage... Geesh! [emoticon]
