Nice TR, Tiger. That is an outstanding area, almost always worth a visit. Been to and through the area many times, but I see I've still missed parts.

Thanks for sharing. I was just in SLO and Hearst Castle this past fall with my parents.

I was the tent city mayor at Fort HL for an encampment of 1100 medical servicemen and women practicing field medicine the summer before Desert Storm. The padre at the Mission turned down our invitation to provide Sunday mass. He didn't like the military.

Thank you, everyone, for the get-well messages.

This trip was pretty tame compared to the usual travels of many of you and I am glad that you enjoyed it.

Nice report, Tiger. I live in Los Osos, so you were within a mile of me when there. [emoticon]

Have camped at 5 of the spots you did and driven many of the same areas you covered.

Hope your ankle mends quickly.

Thanks for the trip report Tiger and hope your ankle mends soon. Nice to see you included a lot of useful information and references for other travellers who might want to follow this route too.

I enjoyed your reminicing the past looking to the future.
Hope your ankle returns you to normal duty soon.

Thank you for showing us a region we have only seen small parts of!

This would make a great trip route for a future trek up the West Coast.

A broken ankle can be a tricky son of a gun to heal. I hope you get back "on your feet" soon !

Cheers,
S-
