Toward the end of May my friend Jason and I took a road trip from where we live in southern Indiana out to the Overland Expo in Arizona before headed up through Utah, across southern Colorado, and eventually back home. Before this trip the most consecutive nights I've spent in my TC was 3 night. I got quite used to living in the camper and actually miss it now that I'm back home. Here are a few of the highlights of our trip.

This is the morning after we arrived at Overland Expo. We arrived after dark the previous night.

Here are a few of the amazing rigs that were on display.

If I didn't have a TC I think I would want one of these.

We only spent one day at the Expo because we wanted to do some traveling and only had a limited amount of time away from work and my family. This was what we woke up to the morning we left the expo. Fortunately my new tires did the job and we had no problem negotiating the mud and snow. Felt bad for the people next to us who were staying in tents.

We headed north through the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument and the Wupatki National Monument just north of Flagstaff AZ. We did a ton of geocaching as we traveled. Here I am searching for a cache inside a lava tube. Jason made the find.

Next we drove across Monument Valley and drove up the Moki Dugway.

We spent the night at the most amazing camp site at Muley Point. We camped about 10 feet from the edge. Simply awsome views. I can't recomend it enough. Here is the view out our camper door.

You can barely see the camper near the center of the pic at the skyline.

The next day we did some hiking at Natural Bridges NM. We also spent a lot of time finding geocaches and traveling into Colorado.

Our next stop was Mesa Verde NP. We took a tour of Balcony house.

The only way out was through this tunnel.

We did some hanging out in Durango and then spent the night in a campground at the Vallecito Reservoir.

Out doing some caching.

At the top of Wolf Creek Pass, headed to Great Sand Dunes NP.

At the top of the high dune. We got lucky and it rained the night before so the sand was a little more compact and easier to hiking on. The poles came in very handy on this hike.

After GSDNP we made a push for the Kansas boarder and then back to Indiana the next day. The truck and camper performed flawlessly during the trip. On several rainy/snowy nights we were grateful for the warmth of the camper and happy not to be in tents.

Looks like a really fun trip! Thanks for sharing the great photos of such beautiful places!... Not so sure about that tunnel though... I've got a bit of claustrophobia! Though the reward of the balcony might convince me... How long is it?

Thanks again! Happy camping!

You had a lot of excitement with the weather at Mormon Lake, it seems. Unfortunately, making a short sojourn from Indiana to the intermountain west only whets your appetite for more. Bon appetite.
I like the looks of that Dodge Power Wagon with the Power Wagon fender look of old. I want to do this to my '01.
It was only cold and windy when we went to Expo 2013.

I agree about Muley Point. The best of the best. But, it can take on some hard weather, and the road gets mightly slick.

Great trip report with fantastic pictures. Muley Point is one of the best places I have ever seen and camped at with stunning views. Mesa Verde was another wonderful stop you made to see the cliff dwellings. Thanks for sharing as it brought back memories of the trip I took out there last year.

Great pics. We were at the Overland Expo, too. Saturday morning was a mess with rains all day Friday and snow early Saturday morning (yes snow). Crazy weather for Arizona in mid-May.

In our attempt to relocate closer to the front we got stuck (like several others). Here I am winching out with my new winch with the help of another trucker.

Here's what we awoke to Saturday morning.
