I have been coming here for several years. One of my favorite Idaho places!!

Headin' out.

Deadwood is 55 road miles East of Cascade the last 25 being Forest Service. The road is good, no 4x4 or high clearance needed but does have long stretches of washboard.

Yeah, a rock got me in MT in chip seal when some moron just HAD to pass.

First order of business, launch the boat. Not a real high tech ramp but gets the job done.

Next is set up camp. Went to my favorite spot next to the water. This is not a bona fide campground, just an area near the "boat ramp". FS campgrounds are further down the lake.

Boat down the bank behind camp. Water is sure low this year. Not much snow last winter.

View of "neighbors" across the road.

Fishing near the dam. It was great. Couple dozen 15-16" Kokanee. No pics. I use barbless hooks and release them without removing them from the water.

Heading back to camp. Camper is peeking out behind tree.

View from my windows.

This is the other side of the dam. You pull in here and the air temp drops about 30 degrees from all the mist. Instant goose bumps!!!

Another reason I love this part of the country is the endless miles of single track.

Perfect spot, great weather, well-outfitted truck and TC, selection of toys - this trip had it all. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice spot. Thanks for the pics , but where's the fish pics? We only have your word without the coroborating evidence [emoticon]
I havnt found barbless hooks but crush the barbs with pliers to minimize damage to the fish. If they're not damaged they go back, if they are, they're dinner.

thanks for the pics. We used to go there in the summer as a kid (in the 50's - 60's) so this brought back some memories. beautiful place.

And the Deadwood river down to the S. Fk. Payette is a great (and challenging) whitewater river trip...though the shuttle is long. Thanks for reminding me.

Good goin', DJ. But only a bike and a boat? You've GOTTA find something to do once you get there.
