I have optimistically created the usual B15 discussion thread for the upcoming 2018 Class B Rally. Nominations are needed from potential rally hosts that will continue the tradition of these Annual Class B RV Rallies.

The updated version of b-rally.org has now been activated.

I would like to add my thanks and kudos to all those who worked so hard to make it the great event that it was. I can honestly say that these things just get more and more fun and entertaining as the years go by.
Again thanks to all who made it work so well...

Thank you to Connie and Jim for all their hard work at the Rally. We had a great time despite the electrical ATS fire in our brand new Winnebago ERA 170C! Thanks to those who helped us and the kind words we received. We are in the process of trying to work with Winnebago and the dealer, but after owning this unit for just 7 weeks, no one is taking responsibility. Buyers Beware! With the numerous repairs needed, it may take 2 or 3 months to get it back on the road!! So, we may or may not be seeing you anytime soon! Kind regards, Gary, Chris and Minnie (Winner of the Smallest Dog at B-14)[emoticon]

We never get to say "good-bye" to many people on the last morning of rallies since, well, because you all leave in the morning. We greet the public at the crack o'noon no matter how enticing a free breakfast is. So, please add the Jersey Girls to those who had a swell time and really really admire the job accomplished by Jim and Connie.

We rolled out of the CG today and drove a few miles to a friend's place. After a year of planning and anticipation, it seems a bit strange to have the rally behind us.

One thing is for sure - it takes a crew of folks to put together and pull off such an event, and B-14 was no exception. So some thanks are in order. It's hard to know where to start, but here we go...

I'd like to make a special shoutout to Adrienne Donatelli and Wayne Stone. We got together several times out in the desert this winter/spring for planning the rally. Adrienne took on the task of investigating options for the shuttle and overseeing its operation during the rally. Adrienne & Wayne also planned and managed the doggy events.

Greg Golden did an awesome job of cajoling vendors to provide the prizes for the raffle. It's a big job and requires a dogged persistence to suss out the right contact and approach to bring them on board.

Harold & Jackie Delk offered us much encouragement and sage advice during visits to their place, as well as valuable assistance with soliciting some of or sponsors. Harold also helped with our logo design and did all the prepress work on our printed materials.

Michelle Ahlgren was a tremendous help in getting us started and advising us along the way. The spreadsheets and timeline she provided were a real benefit in our planning, and she stayed in touch with us regularly through the process with wise counsel. Her work as a photographic documentarian is also much appreciated.

David Rose was a huge help with managing the registration process and the website, as well as photographing the event, especially the group shot and all the portraits of participants as they lined up for dinner. We frequently tapped into his insights born of long history with the rally, and his advice was invaluable.

There were almost too many volunteers to count helping along the way - with preparing the pavilion, with setting up, with serving, with cleaning up after meals. We had offers of help at every turn - what an awesome attitude everyone had!

And last, but not least by any measure, I would like to thank each of you for showing up and making the rally happen. At the end of the day, it is all of you who made the rally the success that was.
Thank you all.

B-Rally West

While we are waiting for B-15 to emerge, how about B-14.5?

Connie & I were chatting with Adrienne and Wayne (aeronie) about a B-Rally out West and, lo and behold, an idea emerged - we’re calling it BNQ.

This will be a different beast altogether - we're talkin' boondocking for a few days in the desert outside of Quartzsite, AZ this coming winter, totally unscripted, totally DIY, totally BYO. Show up with a load of water, full batteries, empty tanks, and ready to throw down! No RSVP, no reservations, no fees - just show up and join the group. Only requirement: show in a B!

Quartzsite is a funky, interesting, desert mining town with tons of excellent camping in the surrounding desert. It's an RV Mecca during that time of year, so there are plenty of RV related services to be had, as well as many interesting and quirky sights around town. We’ll be in a spot with easy access, so coming and going will not be a problem.

We'll nail down a specific timeframe shortly, and we will publish coordinates and directions to the exact location once we are situated. This will be a real adventure, as you will likely be well on your way before we are able to publish the precise location - off into the unknown!

While we will be off-road, the desert floor here is generally smooth and level, so have no fears about making a hard turn off the pavement and into the puckerbrush. If you’ve never done any significant boondocking, think of this as an opportunity to gently push the boundaries of your comfort zone. There will be experienced hands there to ease your way.

See you in the Q and more to follow...

B-14 is in the books and the clock is counting down to B-15. This is a group of volunteers, and the next rally is dependent on someone stepping forward to do the hosting thing. Having just put B-14 to bed, I can say there is definitely some work involved, but come rally weekend, it is all worth it.

One of the major difficulties of hosting the rally is locating an appropriate campground. To assist those who may be considering a turn as host, if you know of a campground that you feel will be suitable, post it here. The general requirements for a suitable venue can be found under the process link on b-rally.org - look at the upper left side of the homepage for the link. This link will also lay out the process for determining the location and hosts for B-15. If you are seriously contemplating throwing your hat in the ring, head on over to b-rally.org for info on how to make that official.

And do think about it. The rallies have proven to be fun events for sharing ideas and experiences, meeting old friends and new, and generally having a fun weekend in a new place. And you won't be working alone - we had more volunteers than we could deal with, and the helpful attitude of everyone was one of the great aspects of the rally.

Let's keep the circle unbroken.
