NASCAR knows how to keep going, AND will keep doing it. Also, the fact that Kyle Busch was driving the winning car tells me that his crewchief is applying for a new job.

Hendricks is loaded up with the young guns after signing up Kyle Larson in the 5 car. Getting excited about next year.

2 guys win 17 races between them. The guy that held the series lead for nearly the entire season and with nine wins is a spectator next Sunday. The guy with 8 wins barely squeezes in to run for all the marbles.

What's wrong with this picture?

Nascar doesn't have season champs anymore...just a champ of the last 4 races.
I'm old and old fashion but IMO a season champ is who ever has the most points at the end of that season.

Only one Toyota in the finale? Jones said fire me, we're not team mates now!!!! I lost track to know if Harvick's punt of Kyle would have got him in if he hadn't wrecked himself also.
Good racing for a change.

There's your proof that the Nascar championship lottery doesn't work or mean much.

They freaked out the year Kenseth won without a single race win. Now you have a man with 1/4 of the seasons wins not vying for the title.

BTW if he passed Kyle it would have been 3 way tie and Kevin and Brad would be in, which wouldn't be fair either considering Denny's record.

They did have a regular season trophy/winner (Harvick) but not much of a to-do about it. I think the regular season champ should get an automatic spot in the final 4 (or 5.)

Social media is screaming thinking Harvick should be in due to his record. They change the rules a couple of times that changed the Championship play off during the year. Bet there will be more rules changed before next year.

Yes, it was that close. One spot would have put Harvick into the final four. And Keslowski out.

If Keslowski had gotten one more spot, if Logano had slowed enough to let him past, and Harvick got past Kyle Bush, Hamlin would have been on the outside.

If Hamlin had lost one spot on the final lap, Harvick was in and Hamlin out.

======================

People on this forum, and every other racing forum, complained about the old system where Harvick would have been locked into the season title back in September.

Fans hated the last four, five or six races of the year being just fillers for some of the secondary positions in points.

The best team in the regular season in football, college or pro, is not guaranteed a spot in the final championship game.

Nor basketball, college or pro

Nor baseball, nor hockey. Not even individual events like the olympics or tennis or golf.

The NASCAR championship is for the WHOLE SEASON, which also means the playoffs. Harvick was simple, his team is not the best team in NASCAR in the playoffs, and it hurt.

Now, with 16 cup teams making the chase, I feel NASCAR has become like the NBA where too many teams are in the playoffs.

Go back to 12, and four races at each cut level. With three races per level, one bad race can hurt too much. JMHO, I could be wrong.
