That's almost the same in Major Pro sports. Once a team locks in the playoff spot, it stops competing as hard. Doesn't want to get a million-dollar player hurt, so many teams slack off.
It's a bit more competitive now, as some of it does come down to the final couple games. Not sure how NASCAR could change it to make the last races count more? No team - or owner - wants to blow up a car on the final race ... although everyone has 'spare parts' even engines, for the next race. Spare Pro players - like top drivers - are harder to come by.

Covid or not, fans are voting with their viewing since most races were closed to the public. After an initial bump with the resumption of events, the flat/downward ratings trajectory continues. And it certainly isn't helping the franchise value since the France family still has a "for sale" sign hanging on the door.

I'm gonna say one of the Penske cars but certainly all of them have had great years. Luck and lap cars at the end.

In the premier category, the man with the most money has the best chance of winning,.....that would be Roger Penske. He doesn't tell his drivers to race as a team,...he simply expects it.

It was a perfect weekend.
Congratulations to Chase, Hendrick and Chevrolet on the Championship!
And I am sure the Siren at the pool room in Dawsonville was wailing as well.

Fun Fact: Kevin Harvick had what was probably the best season of career. Most
wins, most laps led, most top 5's, most top 10's, 0 DNF'S.
Good job with your'playoff' system NASCAR.
