Same kind of mess in Daytona road course this year. Rain tires work for moderate levels of rain. The flood that hit Austin (and later farther north near Dallas) was something that road racers would have stopped earlier.

Also, road racers understand the potential danger of high speed at zero visibility, something the NASCAR guys seem to now understand.

The problem wasn't the tires - or the traction. The problem was visibility.

I am sure NASCAR learned some valuable lessons at COTA. I am also sure that road racing will be part of their future. Racing in the rain requires some different skillsets - and that includes the drivers, the crew chiefs, the sanctioning body, and the track.

Yes he is, my favorite driver for some time now. Mr. Hendrick is no stranger to recognizing talent and drive. Here's hoping for a successful season for Kyle and his team.

Lots of money, lots of sponsors, lots of racing/management experience and knowledge, and Chet Knaus, AND Chevrolet, and very good crewchiefs, and four(4) winning drivers, and at least four raceteams.
I'll put my $$$$$$$ on Rick Hendrick,....for the Championship

Wonder how all teams will do with the 'LEGO' cars to be introduced next season. Composite panels, seems like massaging the body for aero advantage will be going the way of the dodo bird....and a lot of unemployed "fab shop" folks.

Chad Knaus over seeing all 4 teams is the key I believe. The champ will come from Hendrick. Elliott or Larsen is my guess.

Funny how Tony couldn't get NASCAR to let him have Kyle Larson but Rick didn't have any problem. The problem now is the lack of a sponsor for Kyle so far. Cancel culture at work at the corporate level.

Mr. Larson seems to have a sponsor. He was wearing a Valvoline uniform yesterday in Nashville.

On edit after watching the recorded race yesterday has Smokey Yunick come back from the dead and been hired onto the 5 car?

On any given race, any of the top 5 drivers will win the race if he's driving the winning car. We're not really trying to see who is the best driver, but we sure will see the winning car.
