Topic: Could someone define the acronyms of 5th wheel models?

Posted By: MN Ben on 02/19/17 12:32pm

There seems to be so many.
RETS, REQS, FBTS, FLSA, KPTS.
That is just to name a few from Jayco. I am sure there are many many more.
I assume F means front and R means rear. E is entry? Q probably means Queen bed.
A little help would be appreciated.
Ben

Good luck! There is from what I see no rhyme or reason to RV nomenclature. It could mean number of slides, number of beds, placement of kitchen, living or bathrooms.

I'm with you. To many mfg out there using different letters meaning different things, and I'm not sure they all have a logical meaning. I can add one more to your list- S is for slide. I can usually come close so I'm not wasting my time looking in a RK when I want a RL.

I compared two, RL and RE. I looked like one was rear living (couch was at the back) and the other was rear entertainment (TV and cabinet with window at the back).

The one thing I know if it has a B it is usually a bunk model. Mine a 315 RST and I have no idea why or what. Good Luck

I read an article, possibly in Trailer Life or Motorhome magazine, that seemed to explain the model numbers and letters. They represented just what each manufacturer wanted them to represent.

When I try to decipher our Jayco 28.5 RLTS, ours is a Rear Living, Triple Slide whether correct or not it fits and that's my story and I am sticking to it.

BB_TX Great info... thks.
Ours is a 2014 Cougar 327 RES
R - rear
E - entertainment
S - ???? likely slide(s)

327 is not the outside length as ours is just under 37 feet long...
hum... I should measure the inside floor space... we have a front closet so it may be 32' 7" floor space excluding the closet and rear TV entertainment centre cabinet???

I bet it is. Maybe it's because it later in the day or it's one of those senior things, I've tried to figure it out and can't. Am I the only one? Ok, take your shot. If someone can explain it to me even if you have to leave a blank for the dirty words.

The numeric value seems to have no actual meaning other than the larger the number the longer the trailer in comparison to RV's in the same family by the same manufacturer.

My own 5'ers model is 26FWRKS. It's 29', fifth wheel, rear kitchen with fridge and pantry on the slide.

It depends on the manufacturer.

As an example for Jayco

RLTS = Rear Living triple Slide
RLDS = Rear Living Double Slide
FLQS = Front Living Quad Slide
RLS = Rear Living Slide (1 slide)
FK = front Kitchen

Just a few.
