I havent seen too many rv's on the road for the last few weeks. I am assuming it is because fuel is too expensive.

I saw the exact opposite. We just made a run from AZ to TX and there were lots of RV's heading the other way. So many so that it became a point of conversation. Obviously, we don't see as many heading in the same direction as we are all likely traveling at about the same speed!

Comparing the expense between an RV gets 8 MPG (mine gets 6-7) to ANYTHING that get 20-25 MPG is just nonsense. Heck (better word has 2 L's at the end) my Jeep Cherokee toad doesn't get 25 MPG! How did this topic morph into a MPG conversation from the never ending story?

I am in the upstate of South Carolina and Usually this time of the year we have lots of RVs traveling thru. This year we have had some, but not as many as usual. Most of the people I know have said, yes they are going out , but not as far as they usually do.

Just paid $5.459 for Diesel near Myrtle Beach, SC. Hurts, but I didn't by my coach to set at home. Still have about 1000 miles plus or minus before we get back home. People are still out, I have had some trouble getting sites on the weekends.

We're at $6.50/gallon for diesel locally. We have a ~1,600 mile trip coming up. We're figuring easy math for the budget @ $1.00/mile - just insanity. That same trip 2 years ago would have been ~ 30 cents a mile. Good times these days. [emoticon]

In any case, back on topic, obviously Fulltimin won't be taking his project on the road with him.

Greetings from N E Washington State!

Been so busy, I haven't had time to even look at this thread until now.

Thanks for the posts, folks. I'll try to follow up in a day or 2.

How about $ .216 cents per mile with average gas $4.461 a gal?

Even if I could have taken the moho along, there was no time to work on it.

Yes, I am back.

Glad you had a safe trip and are back fully relaxed and ready to go to work. I managed to fix my cruise control today, I really need to get off my keester and cut the grass, It still hasn't been fully cut since I got back from my trip. I still hate cutting grass as it aggravates my allergies. I also am not sure it is worth over $5.00 per gallon to cut. Takes my mower about 5 gallons to cut the place so $25.00 plus to mow.

Fully relaxed and ready to go to work? Surely, you jest! Lol...

After driving about 2750 miles in 6 days, I am ready for a little break. I think I'll take this week off yet, and catch up on some things that need to be done around here, before getting back to work.

We did have a great time and the entire 3 week trip including van rental, gas, food and misc, cost us about $2,500, which is about $1,000 less than what gas would have cost for the motor home figured at 8 mpg.

In this situation, I am glad we rented a van.

I do have some new ideas for the moho though. Living in 60 sq ft for 3 weeks, gave me a few ideas on how to utilize some of our living space.

Btw, I am not planning on utilizing one in the moho, but, using a composting toilet is not nearly as gross as it sounds. Just saying.

Glad to be back. Hope everyone is doing well! I missed you all. [emoticon]

So inquiring minds want to know - what did you rent? What type of fuel and what was your MPG?
