Just curious.
All you have to do is click on the link I provided. ![rolleyes [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/rolleyes.gif) I go by what their CEO says. After all, that's who runs the company.
Huh. Went thru it twice and didn’t see any specs on the semi. I might be on the wrong link. Can you repost it?

This is all I could find in the link.
“If you want, for long-range trucking, you can take the range up to, we think, easily 800 km, and we see a path over time to 1,000 km range for a heavy-duty truck,”
I don’t think “we see a path” is the same as the published expected specs for the first production units which are still 800 kilometres.
But hey. That’s JMHO.
Cheers.

Elon Musk told reporters that sustainable energy should be developed for the distant future, however, the world still needs to extract oil and gas in the present in order to sustain civilization’s current energy demands.
When prompted on whether he believes oil and gas should continue to be used he stated, “Realistically, we do need to use oil and gas in the short term because otherwise civilization will crumble…In order for civilization to continue to function, we do need oil and gas, any reasonable person would conclude that.”
Ive no doubt oil will always be needed.

I just wish more city buses and trucks were electric to reduce the air polution in big cities.
And Judging by huge demand for Tesla, more people will choose to buy EVs over gas hogs when more are available.

YMMV
I am sure many of the drivers will give a report once in commercial service.
Will see how many return the Semi if it comes up short.

@freeradical.
Sure, people will buy more EVs. They’re great, and in some cases may actually be more economical than their ICE counterparts. But rarely. “Most” current EVs on the market are status symbols or folks who aren’t good at math and only count the savings at the gas pump because they don’t understand vehicles nor the total cost of ownership.
Difference is, look at the median income of Americans and then look at the # of car owners at, near or below that vs the number of people that “should” be able to afford most of the current crop of EVs.
There’s a huge disparity there. And poor people don’t only need a “cheap put put” urban commuter EV.
I’m sure it’s not unlike when automobiles first came out, but the major difference is there is already a 100yrs old viable, cost effective alternative and all the infrastructure to go with it, readily available.
When cars replaced horses, there was no viable alternative AND the population was not already accustomed to that fast efficient mode of transportation. Completely different story now.
And either the govt will force poor people out of their cars or the whole transition to EVs will be MUCH slower than the unicorn fart sniffers like to think…or hope.

Funny part is I actually see the potential value or convenience of future EVs. (Because it’s not there yet and if you think it is, you’re not good with money or have enough that it doesn’t matter.)
But the free radicals who aren’t problem solvers but rather just idealists still can’t get past the shiny new object!

Many long distance OTR trucks run driver teams, those trucks are most profitable when wheels are turning 16+ hours a day. The Semi has a rated 500 mile range, which will make OTR operations less profitable even with the reduced cost of fuel. On the other hand, those electric rigs should shine in short haul and pickup/delivery operations.

I have wondered if the projected range numbers are at 55 mph, CA speed limit for vehicles towing. Or is it at 70-75 like other states.
