head of autopilot software has left Tesla

What I don't understand is this whole notion of autonomous vehicles will most certainly be subject to government scrutiny/regulation that has yet to happen. Tesla's publicized accidents involving autopilot feature certainly seem to make a case for oversight? What the hurry?

Tusk has promised to release it by the end of next year...

Plus he has been selling the vehicles with that promised release date

He still hasn't gotten the fact of regulatory certification is required before selling to the public

To date, he has been using his customer's as test mule dummies...

And...it is one of the features of his semi...what is his promised semi release date ?

Nope. The word “promise” is used often in regards to auto manufacturers projected timelines. In actual fact manufacturers never “promise” anything. They simply project timelines. In 2013 VW didn’t “promise” to be the world leaders in Electtic Vehicles producing over a million vehicles per year by 2018. They did announce it though and were off by about 5 years...at least...and even that is not certain.

There have been various projections and timelines for model Y, Semi, truck etc. No promises. It is a habit we should all break.

Have not seen how the insurance sales are going, or if he has state approvals to sell insurance either.

I am sure somebody will tell us how we should have never believed him when he said he would have his own insurance!

Your number sounded way high... Luckily Google helped me out [emoticon]

while the number is somewhat misleading it's mostly accurate and surprised me.

Vehicular fire data

One of the differences, When a Tesla catches on fire, it's very difficult to put the fire out. Fire dept are generally not equipped to deal with a battery fire. We had a battery pack being transported in the detroit area. They had to drive a fire truck from the airport approximately 30 miles to the fire to put it out.

Can't wait for the Semi tent quality truck.

This guy is on the money.

this is interesting, didn't realize this impacted more than just tesla, but any car with a factory fob.

tesla goes bye-bye from driveway in UK

My wife's Jeep goes in the locked garage. My truck has no fob and is not in danger of being stolen like Tesla's in Europe appear to be.

I havent seen any WM burned down from those Solar panels

but with over hundred ICE car crashes a day Im guessing plenty of people got cooked rather nasty.
