I reciently purchased the cpe digital hybred 4000 serge / 3000 generator.
the engine is model yf172iv-331 224cc.

What I want to do is add electric start to this generator.
So my question is will the honda gx 200 electric start kit's I have seen on ebay be appropriate.
I plan on useing the battery power from my van to energize the electric start circuit.
If the GX 200 kit's are not appropriate, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve my goal of adding electric start.
thank you.

Is this the 4000 peak/3500 running model? I don't believe its an inverter and fairly noisy at 68 dba. Sure you want this one?

I can't find the percent of Harmonic Distortion on your unit. Makes be nervous when its over 3% and I'm using it for my RV.

I can't say for sure, but based on the parts diagram in the manual available online for the generator, I don't think you'll be able to add an electric starter. The flywheel does not appear to have ring gear teeth, as is common in many small engines, so there's no way for the starter motor crank the engine. Maybe that's just a limitation of the detail in the drawing.

At any rate, the chance of any odd starter working without at least some fabrication of brackets etc. is pretty slim indeed.

The typical kit's on ebay for the gx 200 series engins include a flywheel with ring gear a starter motor and a keyswitch/solinoid box. they run around $90.00
The price for me is low enough that the risk of throing my money away wont hurt 2 badly if I am wrong. I realize that this is a new model from cpe I think I will call cpe and see if I can get some answers from tech support.

IDK what the engines specs are

i do know it is NEW and is an inverter model

thats all my post was referring too

it works the same as the pull start 3100i model

but with a higher rating, and NO 'sound muting enclosure'

maybe a way to provide inverter quality power with a higher power level, at a lower price point, than a 4000w "quiet sound enclosed version" ?

i haven't seen any other gas portable 4000w inverter genset

i think Honda has 6000w, with a hefty price, but is a superb genset

first thing to look for is there a starter mounting housing on your engine. also look at some of the other champion generators with electric start to compare. some of those have the same size motor.
