Deterrents do not work. The only way to keep them out is to plug all entrance holes. Under the belly, all the frame rails, the grills over the fridge and furnace, etc. ANYWHERE they can find a way in must be blocked. Steel wool works good, and they make a spray foam that is specifically meant to keep rodents out.

I hope you didn’t shoot it with a lead pellet, they are extremely toxic to wildlife, birds especially.
