Nice being empty. I can’t say it would be much fun in camping season like so many other campgrounds. [emoticon]

Neil, I can't imagine why that great place was so empty. Isn't Florida jammed with snowbirds this time of year?? Maybe it was overrun with crocodiles? [emoticon]

Hey Dan, Crocs (oops, I meant gators) are cold blooded creatures and they were nowhere to be seen for the same reason campers were scarce. We were there the week that the dreaded double polar vortex dipped well down into Florida so don't let the sunshine fool you. As shown in the video, night time temps in the 30s and a couple of them below freezing. A couple of the days were low to mid 40s with the warmest day being about 52. Being in the sun feels warmer and raises spirits though [emoticon]

Actually most of the snowbirds flock to the FHU CG's in Florida, but the State wild life Cg's with no hook ups always seem to have room. There is one called Dupris off of rt 714 half way to lake Okeechobee from Palm City Florida that is free and even has water and a dump station along with bathroom and showers. Saw lots of alligators a few wild hogs and a Florida panther there. Corbett is another near by have not camped there, but locals shoot guns there all year and no water.

I wonder how the campground looks in camping season?
We camp on one of Pensacola Island in September and it was beautiful. Warm weather, warm water, snow white sand.
State park charged me $7/night senior rate, what is not bad for water and electricity hook up.
AC had to ran at least 18hr a day.

Campendium.com has many reviews of this facility with lots of photos posted and I have yet to see a photo showing more than half full. Several reviews do mention that the warmer season includes some mosquito issues.
