There are “clean” engines and what you did. Unnecessary to do what you did IMO.

I'm sorry the wife is correct.

I just wash the underside and apply anti-rust paint if I see signs of rusting or oxidation.

Do you have a lot of time on your hands?
Did this occupy some of that time?
Do you "feel" better about it?
If yes in all cases, no worries, pop a cool one and relax.

Now that you got that done, better get started on those filthy engine/generator tailpipes with the bottle brush and some Barkeeper's Friend.

why not? It's clean and so is the engine if I ever need to work on it. When you buy used do you open the hood and look?? If it's greasy and the engine is covered, pass I'll keep looking. That said I have always got top dollar when I sell and they look new. Traded on RV sight unseen and when I took it in the upped the trade $1,000 and said all we have to do is put a sign on it and put it on the lot. Last super duty I sold I was asked why is your more than most others? Come over and see, he bought the truck.

Guess I'm a little OCD.

The payback is when you re-sell.

I found this out myself with my well-maintained cars and SUVs.
