Would like to find a park in Vancouver that has a beautiful view of the river-ocean etc as a surprise for DW.
All suggestions are appreciated in advance.
Thank you.

Since you're asking for river-ocean view I assume you're meaning Vancouver BC and not Vancouver WA??? There are river views around Vancouver WA but quite a ways to get to the ocean.

If you're looking for BC recommendations, you might do better to post in the Canada forum.

If you're talking Vancouver, BC, you won't find anything on or near the ocean. There is a nice RV park in Fort Langley, just east of Vancouver that is next to the Fraser river.

If you take a short ferry ride to the Sunshine Coast north of Vancouver, there are some RV parks there that will be close to the ocean but not sure if any are on the ocean. The Sunshine Coast is lovely though and worth a visit.

There is an RV park in Point Roberts just south of Vancouver, south of the 49th parallel and is in the USA. Point Roberts is a small spit of land only accessible by land from Canada.

Vancouver WA is nowhere near the ocean and next to the Columbia River.

The closest park to the ocen in Vancouver, BC would be Capilano RV Park - it's actually in West Vancouver, directly under the end of the Lion's Gate Bridge, and it's walking distance to Stanley Park.

The thing about Vancouver is that it has some of the highest land & housing prices in the world now, thanks in large part to money laundering (Gov't put a lid on it a couple of years ago tho.). Any waterfront property commands the highest prices and you just won't find things like lowly RV parks taking up waterfront property, on the ocean or riverfront.

I spent every single summer as a kid in my parents ocean front cabin on the Sunshine Coast (3 years of my life in total). What an amazing experience and also a privilege that few have. Nothing much there back then but now it's a bedroom community for Vancouver complete with subdivisions. Sad! Did a little googling and I don't see any waterfront RV parks there, but some should be close to the water at least. Ferry is only about 20 min. but may cost a bit.

Forgot about Capilano RV park. I used to work nearby at one time. It's at the entrance to Burrard Inlet which is mostly a shipping port. Lots of freighters, cruise ships, etc. coming and going there through the narrows under the bridge. Nearby Stanley Park is an amazing place. The RV park is on native land which is one of the reasons it's still there, otherwise would have been taken over by commercial or residential long ago. It's advertised as the only waterfront RV park in the greater Vancouver area.

I lived on Vancouver Island for 20 years but was way before we got into RV-ing. Many RV parks over there but not sure how many are waterfront, if any. The Island is a beautiful place to visit. Ferry is about 1.5 hours but with an RV, the fare is very expensive, which is why we've never taken our TT there.

If you do happen to find a piece of oceanfront heaven for an RV, please let me know!! If there was such a place, would have been there by now.

There are even few true oceanfront RV parks/CGs on the WA, OR coast. Many are next to the ocean, but not actually on the water and you can't see the water. And any will be booked waaaay in advance.

Wherever you end up, please post. [emoticon]
