Wish that was the only problem in my neighborhood. Many homes turned into rentals. Can’t even begin to tell you those problems.

Being at the far west side of a time zone has its benefits: there's a point where "too early" is also "too dark". We live on a big lake on a private street - one would think that noise early morning wouldn't be an issue - but you can't believe how much noise 50 Bass Boats can make at 6 AM when taking off for a tournament....LOL!!!! (Fortunately they are all fishing quietly within minutes; and I can sometimes fall back asleep again)

I'm another light sleeper who gets by with a sound-masking machine. And as a rule, most of our neighbors wait until 8 am or so before mowing/firing up the motorcycle, etc

I always wait till about 9:15 am before I fire up our snowblower/lawn mower. But I do know, not everybody does. Both our lawnmower and snowblower have factory mufflers...but still a bit loud.

You mentioned motorcycles in your post.

Made me think. I notice almost everybody with a Harley Davidson has a loud, non stock exhaust system.

Our son has a BMW motorcycle and it's very quiet, very refined and when I think of it, I've yet to hear any modern Indian motorcycle ...loud...they seem to retain their stock exhaust system.

We have a couple Harley riders in our area...loud...sound like an out of tune, Briggs & Stratton engine.

Pretty much, except the Briggs & Stratton engine may be a bit more refined, with more horsepower. [emoticon]

[emoticon] You're quite right. I should apologize to Briggs & Stratton for the comparison. [emoticon]

We are fortunate. We live on the side of our beautiful, forested mountain.
It's peaceful & quiet...except for the forest critters & birds talking...[emoticon]

Our town has a noise ordinance.
Nothing before 7:30 or after 10:00.
Doesn't stop the golf course across the street from firing up their loud mowers at 5:00AM on a Sunday morning.
Rarely enforced unless someone complains.
