Many cell phone plans I know of boast of "unlimited" data, but I've run into exceptions for hot spot use and metered rates after certain limits.

Are there any plans that are truly unlimited and OK for hot spot use without metering?

Start your own wireless company that's the only way you can get it.

Lies, darn lies and unlimited data plans.

I have a UDP from Verizon and I would have 20-25 MBs then an hour later it would slow down to under 1 MBs; too slow to use. So I called them and they explained I had a discounted Sr plan which they routinely throttle based on traffic and giving the Premium plan holders priority.

Someone here posted about a hotspot only plan from OTR Data which I bought.

It’s on ATTs network s when Verizon isn’t there they might be.
$60/mo no limit, no throttling, no contract. So far it works great.

Another big improvement was I bought a Weboost RV celll booster.

It greatly improved data rates. For all systems.

The word I get is that Visible, a Verizon company just removed their data speed cap.

The plan is $40 a month and unlimited data on the phone plan.

You can use the phone as an unlimited hotspot.

I'd read the fine print.

Everybody's got throttling after X amount of data or hotspot, on paper. Nobody calls it throttle, it's called optimization, or speeds may be reduced.

Doesn't mean it'll happen all the time, everywhere.

Crowded camp on a weekend, you'll likely get "optimize" before going over.

Less crowded areas, probably no speed reducible when you go over, no problems.

Count on the budget MVNO to keep much better track of usage.

Add on question for this. In my area Verizon is by far the predominant player. ATT did put a tower in, but chose a location which makes their coverage spotty.
I tried getting an ATT unlimited phone plan and got decent data speeds, but the phone was barely able to function as a phone throughout the house.
LTE Data was good, voice was poor so I dropped it and went to The VeriZone.
On the connected car programs, I was too late to get the Mobley deal when it was available, the ATT tower was not up. But now they have the Harman spark units which would still give web access. M y car is parked 10 feet from my bedroom window, how far do these connected car units work from OBD jack to whatever device you are using?

Verizon isn't going to be charging me $100/mo for 4g speed hotspot data (not unlimited) almost anywhere I travel, but give it to you for half that price. That doesn't make any sense.

OTR Mobile, an AT&T reseller (MVNO) offers a "hotspot only" plan that never throttles and is unlimited.

We have two UDP's that are no longer offered, the prepaid hotspot plan from Verizon that recently ended, and the AT&T Connected Car Mobley plan wth the SIM moved to a Netgear Unite Explore hotspot. Both are subject to deprioritization, but the reality for us has been that even in congested areas the speeds have still been good enough for reliable streaming on one service or the other. We average around 150 GB/mo combined.

FMCA Offers Sprint Unlimited Data Plan

FMCA's Sprint Unlimited Data Plan wrote:

Q: What is my data limit for this plan?

A: The Sprint Mobile Hotspot plan is a truly unlimited data plan with no data cap. Sprint does, however, reserve the right to network manage at any point and this can happen in congested areas from time to time.
