[emoticon] Now you may have hit on something.I am one of the ones who has never had the problems that the others have been griping about.

I just checked mine and topics per page are set at 20 and the posts per page is set at 10. I have never set or reset this,it seems to be set that way when I signed up 2011.

What are your other settings that are different than my image below?

The only thing that is different is, show topics from, mine is last 30 days yours is last 14 Days.

Otherwise they are the same.

another piece to the puzzle.
So far I've only looked at the forums that I do not have hidden (the forums that I want to read.)

when logged in:
Setting topics per page at 40 and most forums error.
setting topics per page at 20 and most forums now work.
setting posts per page to 10 or 20 seems to have no effect.
Setting Show topics from 14 days to show topics from 12 months seems to free up all the forums on my list.

Changed to 20 and 10 fixed it for me, at least in 2 forums (Tow Vehicles and RV Pet Stop)

I just checked all forums and had the most success with.

logged in to RV.net
Show topics from: last 12 months
Topics per page: 20
With these settings I can now access all topics except Coast to Coast.
Now whether or not I can go into each posting and reply or edit has yet to be seen.

JimH, your fix works on most but not all of the forums -- well done! This will help the mods and admins diagnose the problem.

For what it is worth, I set my preferences to the most basic settings, so as to tax the software as little as possible. So I chose 7 days, 20 topics, and 10 posts.

I then went back and tried to get into the various forums, using the Trailer Life portal.

The following forums are the only ones that still don't work:

Class B
Folding trailers
Hybrids
Tent campers
Family camping
Work camping
Rallies
RV Lifestyle
Mexico

So Jim's solution did help somewhat. There are fewer blocked forums than before.

If anyone else has the time and the patience, could you double check my findings? If others can confirm the same pattern, that would provide additional de-bugging guidance for the software people. Thanks!

Hey Dan, I checked your findings and I unfortunately did not get the same results. What I did find though is that the topics per page has a huge impact on the results, yet the posts per page have no impact. I also noticed you had no errors until Class B's. I'm wondering if you tested all the Good Sam topics. Because I have failures on:
Good Sam Roadside Assistance
Good Sam Club
Good Sam Insurance
Camping World RV Sales
Good Sam Extended Service Plan

Class B - Camping Van Conversions
Folding Trailers
Hybrid Travel Trailers
Tent Camping
Family Camping
Workamping Forum
Rallies, Shows and Gatherings
RV Lifestyle
Full-time Rving
Camp Cooks and Connoisseurs
Do It Yourself Modifications and Upgrades (DIY)
Towing
Dinghy Towing
Public Lands, Boondocking and Dry Camping
RVing in Canada and Alaska
RVing in Mexico and South America
Snowbirds

I’m not positive that this will fix everyone, but it seems logical. I only have a sample size of 1.

1. Login
2. Go to My Forums
3. Go to My Preferences
4. Change topics per page from 40 to 20 and posts per page to 10. Picture below.
5. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit Changes.

Thanks-that actually seemed to improve navigation, linking to topics, different pages or links within the drop down menu, not 100% but lessens the maddening effort of just getting to different pages..., Short of logging out.

opnspaces, I did not test the Good Sam and CW pages because (true confession) I never look at them.

But that is quite a daunting list of failures.

I am not seeing much of a pattern here. The folks working on the software have a big job ahead of them, I'm afraid. The first rule of debugging is to detect and describe an error pattern capable of replication.

I agree, also sending you a PM, well providing the portals will work for that. [emoticon]

Kind of a shame the sys admins didn’t do any debugging, but oh well. Assuming this is a real fix. The fix on the backend is to disallow 40 topics and Posts of 20 per page and bulk update everyone’s preferences to 20 and 10 or increase the buffer to handle 40 and 10 Posts per page.

THANKS, Jim! So far your fix has seemed to work for me. It's been so frustrating for over a week, trying to navigate the Forum. None of the mods suggestions worked but yours seems to have.
