Wow, that 5 foot ethernet cable had ends that looked just like RCA plugs.

Although you do have to admit that it's not a whole lot different than paying $20,000 for a Chevrolet vs $100,000 for a Mercedes/BMW/Jaguar. They offer the same things: dry transportation when it's raining, warm transportation when it's cold, and cool transportation when it's hot. It's just how much you want to impress your peers. Some people think that's actually important.

Monster Cable used to sell RCA and HDMI cables for huge amounts of money claiming they were superior to the "regular" RCA and HDMI cables.

And there is always the "AudioQuest - Diamond 6.6' High-Speed HDMI Cable" priced at a reasonable $1800.00.

There's always somebody eager to separate the gullible from their money.

for fun I once braided 3 cat 5 cables and turned it into speaker cable. IT apparently was what one of the orange sellers was charging dozens of dollars a foot for. In a single blind test of highly trained mostly deaf listeners, 3 of us determined it was "slightly" better than 20 year old zip cord. I wasn't expecting a difference, and then I discovered the zip cord had some surface corrosion [emoticon] I used it for a few years until I moved and ran speaker wire in the wall.
