It is either planned, or unplanned, but happens every 6 months or so. 5 days, 5 week or 5 months, who knows how long. You can pretty much plan on it.

Alternate route idea. Just north of Asheville at Weaverville pick up rt.25 all the way to Newport TN and pick up 40 just west of Newport. NOW, that said there is a 13'8" RR tressle coming into Newport from the east. I have pulled my trailer that way a few times and there is a down hill grade with curves. The road is a good road though especially if you are not towing.
